We ask all potential members to visit one of our training bands. This allows you to get a feel for the place and experience how we work together in rehearsals. If you feel ready then of course you can come and join us with your instrument and play along. However, if you prefer, you can just watch with your parents/guardian or maybe “sit in” - this means just sitting in your section and reading the music as the band play. The decision to play is totally yours. We fully understand that joining a band for the first time can be a bit scary for some. So don’t worry, you decide when you’re ready.

You might feel after your first visit that the level of music is “too easy” or "too hard". That’s ok - the Musical Director (MD) will discuss this with you after rehearsal and assess whether you might be better placed in another ensemble - it is not simply a case of age or ability but rather a mixture of those factors.
