Wednesday 8th November 2022 was an exciting day for Doncaster and DYJA was delighted to be represented by John Ellis at a civic ceremony hosted at the Mansion House to welcome the King and Queen Consort.

Having met King Charles III (then Prince Charles) during an education seminar in the 80’s and then subsequently when receiving his MBE in 1995 for services to education, it is fitting and timely that DYJA was represented by its founder just ahead of our 50th anniversary year!

Many Doncaster musicians have been honoured to perform on invitation for the Royal Family over the years, at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and in Doncaster so as their Majesties the King and Queen Consort visited Doncaster to confer City Status, we are proud to have played a small part in this momentous occasion.

John was in great company at the event, and took the opportunity to catch up with local hero Ben Parkinson, who is hoping to also join us at our annual flagship event at the Earl of Doncaster on Weds 28th December.
